My life is bright and full of promises, but this would not be the case if Dr. Schmitt hadn’t been my counselor during my high school days in Switzerland. I came to boarding school at a very young age and became an outsider because of my difficult upbringing and cultural differences with other pupils. But the day I met Curt Schmitt, who was to become my counselor and tutor, was the beginning of a journey of transformation that I will always be grateful for. Whether I would come for advice to his office or whether I would be playing for the basketball team he coached, I have felt a level of care towards myself that I hadn’t quite experienced on any occasions prior to that. On the basketball team, I was the shortest guy and I was playing with a constant back pain. It was more than on one occasion that I considered quitting because the pain during some tournaments or trainings was unbearable, but I didn’t. The only reason was that I saw how much Dr. Schmitt cared about me and had the trust to put the health of mine in his hands. While playing for him we won regional championships and competed at the national level, but the biggest accomplishment was the transformation that occurred in each of us and this is what makes him special. Dr. Schmitt is much more than a counselor and he will not only help you arrive at your next destination, but he is going to make you feel cared about and will help you grow as an individual and become the best possible version of yourself.
