About us
Dr. Curt Schmitt has accompanied UNITARGET as an experienced college counsellor from the beginning and in January 2016 he became its director. He completed his Bachelor and Master in International Relations and History at the London School of Economics (LSE), before obtaining his PhD in History from the University of Cambridge. From 2003 to 2014 he held a number of positions at the Lyceum Alpinum Zuoz in Switzerland: head of boarding, teacher of history and politics, tutor in the International Baccalaureate diploma programme (IB), head of admissions and head of college counselling. Dr Schmitt and his wife have known each other since their university days in London. They have two young children and live in Hamburg.
UNITARGET was founded in 2011 by Bruno Steinkraus and Daniel Lobron, who met while studying at Imperial College London. Lobron continued his studies with a Master in Nanotechnology at the University of Cambridge before embarking on a career at Google in San Francisco, fulfilling several roles in strategy & operations. In 2021 he moved to New York, where he is now building the future of finance and blockchain technology at Paxos. Steinkraus completed his PhD in Molecular Biology at the University of Oxford in 2017. After a stint in consulting with WMC Healthcare in Munich, he moved to Hummingbird Diagnostics in Heidelberg, where he is now leading the research on Alzheimer and cancer as Chief Scientific Officer. Thanks to their personal experience and excellent network they can look back at many successful applications. Steinkraus and Lobron keep close ties to UNITARGET.
